句子动词原形开头问题

Present at the meeting are experts on DNA,most of whom come from theUSA.

1.为何这个句子开头用present,就是用动词原形开头呢?这里又不是祈使句。

2.表示美国都要说the US或the USA吗？就是都要加定冠词吗？

第一个问题：

Present at the meeting are experts on DNA,most of whom come from the USA.

这是一种倒装结构。

present 是形容词，不是动词。Present at the meeting 是作表语的形容词短语，放在句首。are experts 为主谓倒装。

正常语序是：Experts on DNA, most of whom come from the USA, arepresent at the meeting.

倒装是什么原因，主语部分太长，含有一个定语从句。为了句子匀称，而将过长的主语后移。

第二个问题：

the USA 是 the United States of America 的缩写。the United States of America是由普通名词组成的“专有名词”，须带定冠词。缩写时仍然保留定冠词，不可省略。
